These terms cover purchases made through this website. Nothing here removes rights you have under Indian consumer law.

An order is an offer to buy. The contract is formed when we confirm dispatch, not when payment is taken.
We may decline an order — for example where a piece has sold in the showroom before the website caught up. If we do, we refund in full.
Because each piece is handwoven and largely one of a kind, stock can change quickly. We reserve the right to correct an obvious pricing or availability error before dispatch.
You can cancel an order at no cost any time before it is dispatched. Write to us or ring the shop with your order number and we will refund the full amount to the way you paid. Once a piece is with the courier, the returns policy applies instead.
Prices are shown in Indian Rupees and include GST at the applicable rate, which is itemised at checkout.
Delivery within India is free on orders of ₹15,000 and above. Below that a flat delivery charge applies, shown separately at checkout before you pay. The total on the confirmation screen is the total you are charged — nothing is added afterwards.
International shipping is quoted per order. Import duties, customs charges and local taxes on an international order are payable by the recipient and are not included in what you pay us.
Card, UPI and netbanking payments are handled by Razorpay, our payment gateway. Your card details go to them and never reach us — we see only whether a payment succeeded and what it was for.
A tax invoice is emailed with your order confirmation and is available from your account afterwards.
Every piece is made by hand on a loom. Slight irregularity in a border, and slight variation in colour between pieces, is characteristic of the process rather than a defect.
Colours on a screen are an approximation. Undyed Muga in particular photographs differently under different light. Ask us for additional photographs, or come to the showroom, if exact shade matters.
You need to be able to enter a contract to buy from us. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian to place the order.
Keep your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you, so tell us straight away if you think somebody else has got into it.
Give us an address and phone number that are correct and current. A parcel that goes astray because the address was wrong is not something we can recover for you.
We may close an account that is being used to defraud us, to abuse our staff, or to place orders with no intention of paying for them.
The photography, written descriptions, and the design of this site belong to us. Read them, share a link, print a page for yourself — but do not republish our images or copy our descriptions onto another shop's listings.
Do not attempt to scrape the catalogue, interfere with the site, or use it in a way that stops other people from shopping.
The names of the weaves — Muga, Paat, Eri, Tussar — are the names of Assam's silks and belong to nobody.
We are responsible for supplying goods that match their description and are of satisfactory quality.
We are not liable for loss arising from your use of a piece contrary to the care guidance we publish — for example damage caused by hot washing, direct sunlight or a hot iron.
We are not liable for a delay caused by something genuinely outside our control — a courier strike, a flood, a network failure at the payment gateway. We will tell you what has happened and, where a delay makes the order pointless, refund it.
Write to us at thebaishyasilkemporium@gmail.com or ring the shop on +91-6002257019. Most things are quicker to sort out by talking to us than by any formal route.
If we cannot settle it between us, you are free to approach the consumer commission for your district. Nothing in these terms takes that right away.
We may update these terms — when the law changes, or when we change how the shop works. The date at the top tells you when they were last revised.
The terms that apply to your order are the ones published on the day you placed it. We will not apply a later change backwards to an order already made.
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at Guwahati, Assam.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
